Training with Cancer

Welcome to my website, a dedicated platform for individuals affected by cancer or those who have completed cancer treatment and are looking to incorporate exercise into their lives.

I understand the unique challenges and concerns faced by individuals in this situation and I am here to provide a safe and supportive environment for your fitness journey.

I believe that exercise plays a crucial role in improving your overall well-being and quality of life for those affected by cancer.

Here are some key reasons why incorporating exercise into your routine can be highly beneficial:

It improves physical strength and endurance:

Regular exercise can help build and maintain muscle strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and enhance overall endurance. This can help you regain energy levels, reduce fatigue, and improve your ability to perform daily activities.

Mental and emotional wellbeing

Exercise has been shown to release endorphins, which are known as ‘’feel-good’’ hormones. Engaging in physical activity can help reduce anxiety, stress, and depression, improving your overall mental and emotional well-being.

Enhanced immunity system

Cancer treatment can weaken your immune system, making individuals more susceptible to infections and other illnesses. Regular exercise can boost the immune system, reducing the risk of infections and supporting overall health.
Despite the many benefits of exercise, it’s important to acknowledge the potential disadvantages of cancer treatments and how they can impact your health. Some common challenges faced during and after cancer treatment include:

  • Fatigue: Cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, can cause extreme fatigue and weakness. It may take time for energy levels to return to normal, and it’s important to listen to your body and gradually build up your exercise routine.
  • Physical limitations: Cancer treatments may result in physical changes, such as loss of muscle mass, joint stiffness or neuropathy. These limitations may affect your range of motion and require modifications to your exercise routine.
  • Increased risk of bone loss and osteoporosis: Certain cancer treatments, such as hormonal therapies, can increase the risk of bone loss and osteoporosis. It’s important to incorporate weight-bearing exercises and strengthen your bones to minimize this risk.
